Don't be Scared of the College Admissions Exam

It can be pretty intimidating if you've never taken a college admissions exam such as the ACT or SAT. You will spend the bulk of your high school career being told that this test is of the utmost importance, which can put a lot of pressure on you.

While the emphasis on you to do well on this test might seem overkill, it is essential to note that it is for a good reason. College admission exams are one of the primary factors in deciding on college admissions, and getting into your school of choice depends on it. That being said, college admission exams don't have to be scary.

Proper test preparation has been shown to reduce test anxiety and raise scores over consistent trials. There is nothing more anxiety-inducing than going to be examined for the information you feel you are unprepared for.

Knowing what content is on a test and what information you need to go in with will help with comfort. After all, what is there to be afraid of if you know the information you will be asked about?

On top of test preparation, you can feel comfort knowing that your first test is not the end of all of your college admission. Students are allowed to retake a college admissions exam, and they will use the new super score.

Ultimately, the best way to confront a test and feel comfortable is to go in with the correct knowledge. The point of a test is to evaluate what information you do and do not know. So if you understand the content in question, you have nothing to worry about.
